A Churchill-Like Clarion Call For America, The World

America, the greatest nation in the history of the world, has started a long and straight slide to death by political correctness, multiculturalism and cultural relativism. That’s coming about because of the inability of our leaders to recognize the advance of the stealth jihad.
So, America and the West wake up before you fall victim to a relentless, bloody and stealth jihad and become subject to Islamofascism. Europe is already virtually gone, as Mark Steyn concluded in his classic book, America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It. Is America next?
I’ve been waiting for a clarion Churchill-like speech warning against that oncoming jihad and Muslim takeover of the West. We have some important books on the subject, such as Robert Spencer’s The Stealth Jihad, an absolute must-read for anyone who wants to save America. But some times it takes a speech to reach enough of the people, as many will simply not take the time to read long books. You’ll recall Winston Churchill warned against the Soviet takeover of Europe in his immortal address at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., on March 5, 1946. He warned, “An iron curtain has descended across Europe.”
In that speech, Churchill said, “The Communist parties or fifth columns constitute a growing challenge and peril to Christian civilization.” We might change to update that as follows: “A small but vocal segment of Islam in America constitutes a growing challenge and peril to Western civilization.”
Churchill went on to say, “Our difficulties and dangers will not be removed by closing our eyes to them.” We might change that to “Our difficulties and dangers will not be removed by closing our eyes to them, by refusing to call Islamofascist terrorism by its right name and insisting on political correctness in referring to the danger simply as extremist terrorism or some such.” This political correctness has already reached an advanced stage in the thinking of President-elect Barack Obama and the Democratic Party, and has even infected the Bush Administration. It might be properly called a form of national suicide by political correctness.
Churchill also said, “If all British moral and material forces and convictions are joined with your own in fraternal association, the high-roads of the future will be clear.” We can’t even say that now as Britain and the rest of Europe is already virtually gone to the stealth jihad as documented by Mr. Steyn and by two other important authors: Melanie Phillips’, Londonistan, and Bruce Bawer’s, While Europe Slept. So we are in an even more dangerous predicament, as our great ally during World War II, Britain, may not be at our side. And for other reasons, we certainly can’t count on Putin’s Russia to help in any way. We may be virtually “America Alone” as Mr. Steyn’s title suggests, and that is one more factor indicating we may be in even greater peril now than we were going into World War II. This suggests the urgency of recognizing the problem we face and acting, accordingly.
I’ve now found the Churchill-like speech that warns of the stealth jihad, warns that it is spreading across the world, and also warns we better recognize we’re in a war whether we like it or not. This speech was recently delivered by Geert Wilders, a member of the parliament of the Netherlands.
He delivered the speech in Jerusalem for good reason. He said, “We are here to voice our concern over the growing Islamization of the West. We do this in the city, the city of David. The city that, together with Rome and Athens symbolizes our ancient heritage.”
Then we went on to a critical point, stressing that it is not just Israel that is under siege, but all of Western civilization:
“This city is the capital of a democracy under threat. Israel is under siege, like the Jewish community in the Land of Israel is under siege for over a century now ...”
Samuel Huntington writes it so aptly: ‘Islam has bloody borders.’ Israel is located precisely on that border. This tiny country is situated on the fault line of jihad, just like Kashmir, Kosovo, the Philippines, Southern Thailand, Darfur in Sudan, Lebanon, and Aceh in Indonesia. Israel is simply in the way of the Islamic advance. Just like West-Berlin was during the Cold War.
“Israel is simply receiving the blows that are meant for all of us. If there would have been no Israel, Islamic imperialism would have found other places to release its energy and its desire for conquest. Therefore, the war against Israel is not a war against Israel. It is a war against the West. It is jihad ...”
As is often the case, Israel and the Jews are only the canary. They are first on the list, but are never the last. We forget the great poetry of Martin Niemoller, the German pastor, who wrote:
“When Hitler attacked the Jews
I was not a Jew, therefore I was not concerned.
And when Hitler attacked the Catholics,
I was not a Catholic, and therefore, I was not concerned.
And when Hitler attacked the unions and the industrialists,
I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned.
Then Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church —
and there was nobody left to be concerned.”
This is not just a great lesson of history but also a lesson of morality akin to the Golden Rule. It explains the consequences of abandoning the Golden Rule.
This account of world events adds up to World War IV between Western civilization and jihad, the Muslim extremists. Yes, all our borders, wherever they are in the world, are bloody borders and getting bloodier.
To understand the way the stealth jihad is working, Mr. Wilders goes to his own Netherlands. The mass migration of Muslims there continues full-speed ahead. The nation is being swamped with Muslim immigrants, often uneducated, if not illiterate. They bring with them the local customs of backward Islamic countries. There are already a million Muslims in the tiny country of about 16.4 million and thousands and thousands of new immigrants arrive every year.
They create some of the same kind of problems we have seen in America. Mr. Wilders says they are overly represented in social benefits and crimes. This in turn creates overall costs that are staggering. But that is not the worst of it. Mr. Wilders writes, “But what we have to fear most is the creeping Islamization, the stealth jihad. Because every Islamic neighborhood, every Islamic shop, every mosque, every Islamic school, every burqa, every veil is regarded by many Muslims as building blocks towards a larger goal, towards domination.”
This all adds up to Europe being transformed into Eurabia as the great Bat Ye’or has long been warning about. See the book Eurabia: The Euro Arab Axis. Wilder cautions Europe will be Eurabia “if we don’t act soon.”
More than 40 years ago, a British politician, Enoch Powell, delivered a speech, looking to the future, and seeing “rivers of blood” as a result of uncontrolled immigration.
Mr. Wilders says he shares Powell’s alarmist’s views of mass immigration, but doesn’t see “rivers of blood” but a more peaceful invasion and ultimate domination. He says the political elite of the Netherlands says the Muslims represent just another wave of immigration, one of many of history.
Mr. Wilders sees this immigration as different from waves of the past: “How are we to maintain a democracy if a large part of the growing Muslim population is in favor of introducing sharia [Muslim] law? How is Amsterdam to remain the gay capitol of Europe if gays are regularly beaten up by non-western immigrants, often Muslims? How are the Jewish communities of Europe to survive with a growing presence of an ideology that is so blatantly anti-Semitic? How are we to remain a center of cultural and scientific excellence if Islam opposes art, and academic exploration?
“How are we to remain an open and tolerant society if we are faced with part of the Muslim community favoring self-segregation and showing no desire for assimilation?”
Mr. Wilders argues we have to fight for our Western principles, which are hollow “if they are not accompanied by a desire to sustain our culture and our civilization, based upon knowing who we are and where we come from.” He continues, “We are not from Saudi-Arabia. We are not from Iran. We come from Rome, Athens, and Jerusalem. That makes our civilization special and certainly worth preserving.”
The political elite are surrendering Western civilization, its culture, its principles, and its values to their favorite values – political correctness, multiculturalism and cultural relativism. They see all cultures as equal. Mr. Wilders asserts, “Our Western culture is better than Islamic culture.” The great Dr. Wafa Sultan put it perfectly:
“It is a clash between civilization and backwardness, between the civilized and the primitive, between barbarity and rationality.” The war is about ideology, not territory. Yes, this is literally light versus darkness, good versus evil, morality versus immorality, the glories of the future or the curses of the past.
I would add one example to Dr. Sultan’s contrast. The tradition of the Talmud is that if you save one life, it is as though you saved the whole world. If you take one life, it is as though you destroyed the whole world. That value of life is at the heart of the Judeo-Christian tradition. In contrast, the Islamists celebrate mass murder and genocidal slaughter.
That is their way to heaven. You cannot find two cultures that are further apart. You can decide if all cultures are equal. You decide if you want to be part of a society that elevates genocidal slaughter to the highest of morality or one that believes in the value, primacy, and sanctity of life.
Mr.Wilders sees the clash of culture this way: “The Islamic ideology does not seek cooperation or assimilation but aims for submission and dominance over non-Muslims. There is no moderate Islam, there will never be a moderate Islam. There might be moderate people who call themselves Muslims, but there is no moderate Islam.” Yes, you can give all the speeches you want about good Muslims and peaceful Muslims, and there are plenty of them. But the problem of the extremists still remains and will not go away regardless of our eagerness to be tolerant and to be inclusive.
One of Mr. Wilder’s most important observations was not included in this important speech. He has said, “I believe we have been too tolerant of the intolerant. We should learn to become intolerant of the intolerant.” We can be perfectly tolerant of tolerant Muslims, but we have to recognize we are at war with the intolerant ones. And we have to understand that no matter how many billion tolerant Muslims there may be, there are enough of the intolerant to doom our civilization if we don’t fight back against the stealth jihad.
And we have to be absolutely intolerant of leftists who try to shut off debate about this most important issue of our time. Mr. Wilders says, “Leftist journalists and leftist politicians hasten themselves to label anyone critical of the Islamization a ‘right-wing extremist.’ The entire establishment has sided with Islam. ... They are Dhimmi’s [second-class citizens in a Muslim society]. Lenin once labeled ignorant people that unknowingly aided his cause ‘useful idiots.’ Well, the West is now full of these ‘useful idiots,’ and they are even proud of it.”
Mr.Wilders not only delivered this historic speech, but also made a film, “Fitna.” He said, “Fitna is a documentary that shows what is being done in the name of Islam. Without placing all Muslims into the same category, I think I have succeeded in showing that the Koran is not some dusty old book, but that it is a source of inspiration for, and justification of hatred, violence and terrorism across the world.”
He notes we have once again seen what Islam is capable of in Mumbai, India. And he notes much of the Western media identified the terrorists as members of “separatists movements.” This he says misses the central point and that is we are seeing Islamic terrorism. This is not a conflict about borders, or the Islamic terrorists would not have gone to extraordinary means to kill and torture Jews. They are clearly not interested in peaceful coexistence. Mr. Wilders says, “Islam is a totalitarian ideology full of hate, violence and submission.” Of course, there is a worldwide effort to silence Mr. Wilders and censor his movie. He has to be under the protection of armed guards. He is aware of how Theo van Gogh, the Dutch filmmaker, was murdered for his critical views on Islam, and others have met the same fate. This tells you something about the Islamic culture and how it contrasts with ours, and demonstrates once again the insanity of the multiculturalists and the cultural relativists.
Mr. Wilders says he thinks working class people are waking up to the dangers of the stealth jihad even while the cultural elite remain blinded by their multiculturism. He also sees political parties in the Netherlands slowly waking up to the dangers of Islamization.
He concludes: “We need a new way of thinking ... just reiterating our devotion to tolerance and democracy is not enough, as we are facing jihad. We need a new set of goals and ideas. We need new leaders. And we should always remember where we come from. We come from Jerusalem.
“... Europe is in the process of islamization, and that we need to fight it. Because if we don’t fight the Islamization we will lose everything, our cultural identity, our democracy, and our rule of law, our liberties, our freedom. We have the duty to defend the ideas of Rome, Athens and Jerusalem. The ancient heritage of our forefather is under attack; we have to defend it.”
We’re in the early stages of what is far advanced in Europe. We better wake up and take action now. The longer we wait, the more destructive the final battle will be.
One of the people that read an early draft of this column, my brother, Dr. Mike, the orthopedic surgeon, provided a perfect summary statement, which is worth including here: “The West and Judeo-Christian values are not compatible with Islam. The Koran is a war plan and the Muslim migration to the west should be acknowledged as an Islamic army with Muslim soldiers to destroy the Western culture and initiate Sharia rule. The West’s retreat from confrontation with Islamic demands and spread will only result in their submission to Islam, as Islam demands of everyone. It is ironic that the multicultural liberals bow to the unicultural Islamic demands when they should be the most vigorous opponents of them. The West believes in liberty, diversity, individual freedom and the sanctity of life whereas Islam believes in oppression, uniformity, submission and death. Who is it that would choose the later over the West, and should those who do be allowed to overwhelm the west through immigration and fecundity? Everyone should stand up and speak out against further spread of the tentacles of Islam before they wrap themselves up over the west completely.”
