“The Legends Tour” scheduled for Saturday, June 29 at the Phenix City Amphitheater has been cancelled. But fans of outdoor concerts and feel-good classic pop needn’t fret: Little River Band is riding in to fill the void.
Formed in 1975 in Melbourne, Australia, the group’s vocal harmonies and original tunes quickly gained international acclaim through a steady stream of Top 10 hits like “Cool Change,” “Lonesome Loser” and “Help Is On Its Way.” According to Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) statistics, two of the bands most popular tunes, “Reminiscing” and “Lady” have received record-setting airplay on U.S. radio with five and four million spins respectively. In fact, Little River Band and “Reminiscing” were part of a running gag between Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in the 2010 action/comedy, “The Other Guys.” With over 35 years of constant touring, the group’s live performances are tight, professional and engaging.
Tickets for the June 29 show are $15 for general admission and $25 for VIP packages that include a reserved seating area and “meet and greet” session with band members from 5:30-6:20pm. Gates open at 6:30pm: the show starts at 8pm. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase, no coolers or pets are allowed, and the amphitheater is a smoke-free facility. Those who purchased tickets for the “Legends” show can get refunds or exchange them for Little River Band tickets at point of purchase.
